Australian sprinter Malcolm Rudolph pushed a big gear into a brisk headwind to claim the time-trial stage on day three of the Bestmed Tour de Boland, presented by Pinarello, on Wednesday.

The 30km Time Trial from Ceres to Tulbagh produced a nerve wrecking battle royal between Bonitas Pro Cyling's JC Nel and the two Drapac riders, Girdlestone & Koning in the fight for the yellow leader's jersey.
Fellow Drapac rider, Malcolm Rudolph , won the stage, but it was Nel who in finishing 2nd on the day, reclaimed the lead from Girdlestone.

KUALA LUMPUR - The hot favorites for the overall individual and teams classifications of the 20th Le Tour de Langkawi this year are MTN-Qhubeka. The first ever African trade team invited to the Tour de France has selected riders from their continent only to take part for the fifth consecutive time. The Malaysian event has remained close to the heart of their principal Douglas Ryder who was the King of the Mountains in 1998.

The European racing season kicks off this weekend when the 10th edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad takes place on Saturday, 28 February. The race marks the opening of the Classics season and will as always be a gruelling test for teams to see how they will shape up after months of preparation. Charles Stander, the father of late Olympic mountain biker Burry, suffered serious injuries during a group ride from the Burry Stander Bike Park in Umtentweni on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast on Saturday.

Previously, when sportsmen retired they turned their hands to coaching. Some even dabbled in selling fax machines and other now-defunct office equipment. Failing those rather dour retirement pastimes, there was always a golf day around the corner that required a bleary-eyed ex-Bok to announce at the first tee, or maybe even participate in a sponsored event while dreaming of glories past.

Cycling South Africa reports that a case of racism has been brought to its attention. The matter involved the rider Dusty Day who referred to fellow cyclist Luthando Kaka by the derogatory “K-word” during a road race on 15 February 2015.
