A nice route but the wind really ruined it for me. The hill at 50km is really tough but a nice challenge.

Water points stocked only warm water and juice - which is badly mixed and can cause your chest to close. Only the last water point made an effort to put ice in the drinks.

There was no race hospitality after the event - you were given your medal and that was it.

Goody bag, was non existant

It is not a race that I will consider doing again.

Vanderbijl Park is no place for bike races...

Probably my first race in 2 years... God alone knows why I chose this race as a return to 100km Super Classics. While I was quite pleased with the entry process and acquiring a late entry and being seeded and so forth, that's about as good as it got for me...

I was alarmed at what it costs to enter an ordinary road race these days. I can't believe people are paying R180 to ride road races! I'm flabbergasted! I think this is why I score this race as really poor value for money. You have to love racing to make the trek form Johannesburg, fork out R180, get a R5 medal and a copy of Cycling News for your troubles. Reflecting on the day I would say entry fee included, petrol costs and lunch, the day set me back around R550.

I found the water tables poorly stocked. But given the conditions out there I was grateful that they were there and at least had water. The juice solution mix was horrid so I giave it a miss.

I arrived at the finish almost 5 hours after I had started the race so most people had packed up and left, there was zero hospitality, I don't even recall a water table at the finish? My heart goes out to the thousands of fun riders who go through this experience at races around the country. It's terrible having to suffer for 5 hours and then get to the finish of a race and it's like a ghost town... You're left to lick your own wounds and just be glad that you got back alive!

Other than that I must admit it's a challenging route, probably great for the race snakes but not at all easy for the person who normally would ride 4 hours for 100km, they will battle on this course...
