Interprovincial Youth Festival heads to Oudtshoorn in October

CSA News

The Interprovincial Youth Festival will take place this year in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape from 2-5 October 2016. Race organisers are expecting a great turnout from all nine provinces.

The festival will once again allow riders under the age of 18 to participate on a regular basis against other riders in the country with similar cycling abilities. As the younger age groups are no longer taking part in the SA National Championships, they are still given a platform such as this in order to hone in on their skills on the bike.

This focuses predominantly on teams and provinces, not the individual rider. The sporting event also aims to assist provinces throughout the country with transformation and development goals.

The Programme of Events will take place as follows:

Sunday 2 October
Road Race

Monday 3 October
Morning: Criterium Racing
Afternoon: Team Time Trial on the Criterium circuit

Tuesday 4 October:
MTB Oval Track racing 1500m
Scratch and elimination races

Wednesday 5 October:
MTB XCO Racing

The road race will be combined with the Pennypinchers Road Race presented by Eden Cycling – a seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour – and takes place on Sunday 2 October 2016. No extra costs will be required for riders in the festival.

Entries are open and close on Monday 19 September 2016. No late entries will be accepted.
