Thys Oosthuizen was born into a family with a love for cycling. He took up cycling at the age of 11 and rode until the age of 18 when his life took him on a different path.

KZN Overport resident Gray Braatvedt has undertaken a challenge to compete in the 30th Tsogo Sun Amashova Race on a Unicycle. The veteran and experienced rider is the first ever unicyclist to enter the race to complete the 106km route in his attempt to raise R20 000 for the non-profit organization called AuSOMEtism.

Avid cyclists who joined in the 2016 edition of the 100 Miles Of Nowhere organised by The Cows KZN herd, based on US Blogger the FatCyclist's template, raised R170 000 for CHOC (Childhood Haematology and Oncology Clinics) as they rode the required 160 kilometers on static training bikes at Cadence Centres around the country, setting a new record for the South African version of the ride.
