LEADout Ascendis youngsters raced in the 99er in Durbanville and the Herald Cycle Tour in Port Elizabteh this weekend. Two races, one thing in common: the wind!
We believe every race is a lesson to be learnt and this weekend the youngsters set their sails, and rode it like they owned it!
Our star triathlete turned roadie, Simone Faulmann tackled the 99er and bubbled with enthusiasm about her learning and goals set to help her hone that triathlon championship winning form into one of a future road champion.
In Port Elizabeth, Shanique, Marchall, Corne and Jessica braved the gusty Port Elizabeth winds. Marchall and Corne were hanging well with the top Pro's in the country until a puncture and crash put paid to their chances respectively. They did not give up though, as we say: The more times you turn a pedal in a race, the more you are offered chances of learning, so on they went to finish the race.
Shanique and Jessica joined the top women in the country where Jessica pulled of a top 10 overall in the women's race.
The way that these youngsters continue to soak up the story of cycling and the learning of the game is really an inspiration to the teaching of it!
