The Cycle Lab Vets 40+ team dominated proceedings during the first stage of the Spar Midvaal Vets and Ladies Tour. Going from the gun it was the trio of Werner Moolman, Bruce Diesel and Andrew McLean who swept up all before them including the Vets 30+ field eventually finishing the stage over 14 minutes ahead of the field.

Van Der Merwe is new SA Women's Road Champ

Marissa van der Merwe (Team USN) became the 2011 South African Elite women’s road race champion when she outsprinted a small group to win the 86km race in Port Elizabeth on Saturday. Robyn de Groot (Nashua Toyota) and Cherise Taylor (Team USN) claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively.

The women started the 80km race with the vets men 40 plus. The first big break came on the Vishoek climb breaking the bunch into two main groups with the top womenin the first group. The chasing group managed to rejoin the main bunch 15km into the race.
