The Memorial Cup has established itself as a popular event for track cyclists on the local calendar, and began as an idea two years ago to host an event to pay tribute to all South Africans who have dedicated their lives and time to cycling and that have sadly passed away while training or racing their favourite sport.
This track cycling grand prix event is open to riders from around the country, and several events are being staged to cater for a wide range of track cyclists, with three endurance, three sprint events, and a Madison. Participants can take part in the 1500m, Points, Elimination, Keirin and Scratch races. In addition, there will also be a Sprint Cup (an open event to all riders) and a 20km Open Madison.
