SA Track champs day 3, Tasol make it 5 of 5, Esterhuizen remains on top.

Day 3 saw the last of the elite men endurance group events and Team Tasol GT conquered before them.

Tasol GT took top honours in the team pursuit bringing their tally of medals to five out of five races participated in. “The team have done an amazing job, and we hope to top it off with a win at Tour Durban this weekend,” said team captain Dean Edwards.

“I am so proud of how hard the boys have ridden, and Nolan could not have had a better comeback.”

The women’s team pursuit saw, Ilse Bole, Victoria Myburgh and Elsa Giancino, take top honours, a first SA track medal for Cycle Nation with Myburgh in the colours of the news portal.

The men’s semi final sprints saw a turn up for the books with Jean Smith out witting Jeanne Nel to get into the gold medal ride off against Bernard Esterhuizen. Nel said, “My legs just didn’t go with me in the second ride of the semi-finals, Smith deserved to go through.” Esterhuizen then out rode Smith last years champ to take the title.

The women’s 500tt once again saw Annerine Wenhold power her way to the top of the podium, with Yvette van den berg taking silver. Maroesjka Matthee completed the podium places. “The track is cold so the times are slow, but I am happy to take the win,” said Wenhold.

The Junior Scratch saw Dirkie Nel break away from the bunch and taking gold. This was his first gold medal at these championships and he was ecstatic, "My first green and gold, i am over the moon," said an elated Nel

Junior woman Tannah Robertson has shown she has what it takes to be on the top of the podium winning her 500tt, as well as her sprint events.

In the disabled Category the pursuits were being contested, Janos Plakos so nearly breaking the SA record.

In the vets, names like Owen Lloyd , Boyd Roberts, Robert Wilson and Bart Nel found their way back to the podium in their respective races
