The final day of the South African Track Champs saw the elite men’s keirin, women’s points race and junior men’s points race being the highlights of the day.

The mens keirin saw a battle between Jeanne Nel, Jean Smith, Bernard Esterhuizen and last years national champ Mike Thomson. Esterhuizen won the duel while Smith came home second and Nel third.

The elite women’s keirin saw an awesome ride by Cycle Nation’s Victoria Myburgh who attacked early and left the field for dead. Magdelene Nicholson took the silver medal and Tania Cartsens the bronze.

The elite women’s point race saw a very determined Lynette Burger stamp her authority on the race winning almost every single points lap sprint. Junior Tannah Robertson too was impressive as she was able to mix it up with the likes of Burger and Myburgh, who once again got a silver medal representing Cycle Nation.

The junior men’s points race saw Emile Jacob of Team Intellibus victorious over Jac Johan Steyn by a mere 1 point in a race that completely set the velodrome on fire.

“SA champs have been a great success and we are happy with the way it was run,” said Chris Basson, event Director.
