A young rider at the Yorkshire Cycling Academy that is developing well and shows good promise is Under 16 rider Graeme Ockhuis.

Graeme is currently riding his  2nd year in the Under 16 age group. At the recent Boxing day Track Cycling Spectacular, hosted in Paarl, Graeme put in a dominant performance in the under 16 age group and achieved some noteworthy results. Graeme won the 800m as well as the Points race and he also finished 2nd in the 1500m. As far as talent goes he is undoubtedly a track star in the making.

The vision of the Yorkshire Cycling Academy is to create opportunities for the local youngsters and also those from the surrounding areas. The Academy has a hands on approach and those that show promise will be guided and given the necessary support, where possible, to take them to the next level of competition. It is also the objective of the Academy to develop the talented riders to successfully compete at international level. The Academy faces numerous financial challenges supporting these youngsters as most of them come from households of poor economic circumstances.
