Unfazed by the scorching Boland temperatures, Lights By Linea Pro Cycling's, Rohan du Plooy made a clean sweep of the top spots at the Western Cape Road and Time Trail Championships held over the weekend near Paarl.

On Saturday the Lights by Linea powerhouse stormed home to win the Under 23 Time Trial title, also claiming the fastest time overall for the day. Jarrod Hattingh (LEADout/Spier) finished 2nd and Bronwin Adams (Alfa Bodyworks) rounded off the u23 podium for 3rd.

In the Elite Time Trial category James Tennent held the torch for Lights by Linea taking the win ahead of Theuns van der Bank(Giant) and Nabigh Davids.

The 150km road race on Sunday was not just a war against each other, but also the elements, as temperatures rose to well above 40 degrees on the day. Out of the heat emerged a group of 8 riders that would contend for overall victory on the day. Rohan du Plooy, James Tennent Carl Bonthuys (all Lights by Linea), Mathew Merrington(Giant), Ivan Venter, Rynhardt Jacobs (both LEADout/Spier), Brandon Chistians(Alfa Bodyworks) and Ian Lategan (Stellenbosch Cycling) worked well together until the last 40km when the Lights by Linea boys started attacking. Only Venter could match their accelerations as it was eventually Du Plooy and Venter who would go clear to contest for the win. Du Plooy out-sprinted Venter for the title with another Lights by Linea rider, James Tennent, coming home in 3rd place.

The team will be travelling again this weekend as they take on the best in South Africa at the Herald Cycle Tour in Port Elizabeth. Make sure to pay a visit to the weekly circuit racing on Wednesday evenings on Killarney racetrack to interact and say hi to these guys.
